The Association of the Bulgarian Enterprises for International Transport and the Roads (AEBTRI) was founded in 1962 with its headquarters in Sofia. Members of AEBTRI are companies and organizations that carry out international road transport or whose activities are related to road transport of passengers and goods. The association protects the interests of its members and the profession as a whole at national and international levels.
At national level, AEBTRI co-operates with the competent authorities in the country that are related to road transport, and regularly participates in the work of their specialized committees.
Immediately after its establishment, AEBTRI joined the International Road Transport Union (IRU), Geneva, as an observer. Since 1967, it has been a full member of the union and has actively participated in the work of its governing and advisory bodies. Over the years, at the international level, the association has also maintained relations with the working and expert groups of the Inland Transport Committee of the UNECE, Geneva, the Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport of the European Commission, the European Labour Authority (ELA), as well as its related associations abroad.
