truck restrictions due to high temperatures

The Bulgarian Road Infrastructure Agency informs that from today – 4 August, until 6 August /Thursday/ at air temperatures above 35 degrees from 13:00 to 21:00 Eastern European Summer Time (EEST), the movement of trucks over 20 tons will be temporarily restricted on Trakia, Struma, Evropa and Maritsa motorways along their entire length, and on Hemus motorway in its sections on the territory of the districts of Sofia, Lovech, Targovishte, Shumen and Varna.

The restrictions also apply on the following sections of the Bulgarian road network:
– on road I-1 Vidin – Vratsa on the territory of the districts of Vidin, Montana and Vratsa;
– on road I-2 Ruse – Varna, in sections in the districts of Ruse, Razgrad and Shumen, between km 12 and km 146;
– on road I-3 in the districts of Pleven, Lovech and Veliko Tarnovo in the section between km 7 and km 170, after the road junction for the village of Strahilovo to the region of Yablanitsa;
– on road I-4 from Koritna to Shumen, in the districts of Lovech, Gabrovo, Veliko Tarnovo, Targovishte and Shumen;
– on road I-5 in the districts of Ruse, Veliko Tarnovo, Stara Zagora and Haskovo. The passage of trucks will be temporarily restricted in the section between km 6 and 115 and in the section after the “Shipka” pass to the area of village of Pchelarovo, between km 170 and km 319, in the districts of Stara Zagora and Haskovo;
– on the road I-6 between the road junction to Kalofer and the road junction “Petolachkata”;
– on the road I-7 Silistra – Shumen, on the territory of both districts;
– on two sections on the road II-55 Debelets – Predela – Gurkovo: from Debelets to the village of Panicherevo and between km 151 and km 186;
– on the road II-66 in the section from the village of Bogomilovo to the road junction of the “Trakia” motorway between km 72 and km 91;
– on road III-663 in the section Chirpan – Celina /between km 0 and km 15/.

The regional departments of the Road Infrastructure Agency are monitoring the weather forecasts and may undertake temporary changes of the traffic organization, in coordination with the Traffic Police.

The restrictions do not apply to vehicles transporting dangerous goods (ADR), live animals, perishable food products and temperature-controlled goods.
