{"id":650,"date":"2026-06-09T14:31:31","date_gmt":"2026-06-09T11:31:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aebtri.com\/en\/?p=650"},"modified":"2026-09-14T09:11:18","modified_gmt":"2026-09-14T06:11:18","slug":"new-toll-rates-and-co2-component-as-of-1-june-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aebtri.com\/en\/2026\/06\/09\/new-toll-rates-and-co2-component-as-of-1-june-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"New toll rates and CO2 component as of 1 June 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"bt_rc_container\"><p><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">The Bulgarian Road Infrastructure Agency introduced new toll rates on <strong>1 June 2026<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">The amended tariff applies to <strong>vehicles over 3.5 tonnes<\/strong> and introduces a <strong>CO<sub>2<\/sub> component<\/strong> in line with Directive (EU) 2025\/2459.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">All vehicles <strong>first registered before 1 July 2019<\/strong> are assigned to <strong>CO<sub>2<\/sub> Class 1<\/strong>. <strong>Zero-emission vehicles<\/strong>, including electric, hydrogen-powered, and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, are assigned to <strong>CO<\/strong><strong>\u2082<\/strong><strong> Class 5<\/strong> without requiring any additional data.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Trucks <strong>first registered on or after 1 July 2019<\/strong> and equipped with an internal combustion engine fall within <strong>CO<sub>2<\/sub> classes 1\u20134<\/strong>. To determine the applicable class, operators must provide the technical parameters from official vehicle documents. Classification in <strong>CO<sub>2<\/sub> classes 2\u20134<\/strong> is valid for six years, after which the vehicle is reassessed against the current reference values.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/aebtri.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2026\/06\/BG_toll_rates_2026-06-01.pdf\">attached <strong>tariff table<\/strong><\/a> sets out the <strong>EUR\/km rates by CO<sub>2<\/sub> class<\/strong>, vehicle type, emissions class and road category, including infrastructure, air, noise and CO<sub>2<\/sub> components.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">An online <strong>CO<sub>2<\/sub> calculator<\/strong> lets operators determine a vehicle&#8217;s CO<sub>2<\/sub> emissions class by registering an account with a valid email address and entering the vehicle&#8217;s technical data in the national database.
